About
Lin Reading is a polymer clay and mixed media artist based in Perth, Western Australia. She has been working with polymer clay since 2005, specializing in vibrant jewelry, sculptural pieces, and decorative bowls. Her work is defined by a love of colour, texture, and organic shapes, blending traditional and contemporary methods to bring a unique perspective to the art of polymer clay.
Lin’s artistic journey has been enriched by learning from some of the world’s leading polymer clay artists, such as Fabiola Perez Agantes, Pavla Cepelikova and Melanie Muir, both in person and online.
She is an active participant in the local polymer clay group, which meets monthly, where she often teaches and conducts demos. Lin finds great joy in helping newcomers discover the creative possibilities of polymer clay. Her work, often featuring intricate canes, custom textures and unique organic forms, showcases her dedication to crafting one-of-a-kind pieces. Her art has been for sale in local galleries and was exhibited at the Mary Lindsay Homestead Gallery in Yanchep, reflecting her growing presence in the art community.
Inspired by the natural world around her, Australian bushland, coral reefs, driftwood, shells, and the textures of stone and bark, Lin’s creations are colorful, often richly textured and always unique. Recently, she has expanded her practice to include acrylic painting and collage, adding new dimensions to her artistic expression.
Originally from Plymouth, UK, Lin moved to Perth in 2011 with her husband and two sons. Now living on a 5-acre property, she finds continuous inspiration in the surrounding Australian wildlife.
In addition to her art, Lin has worked with animals most of her life and currently works at a boarding cattery, fulfilling her lifelong love of animals. This day job complements her artistic endeavors, allowing her to maintain a harmonious balance between her passions and professional life.
